The Thoth Tarot was created by the famous occultist philosopher Aleister Crowley (1875 - 1947). His artistic executant was Lady Frieda Harris (1877 - 1962), who painted the cards in the early years of world war II, from 1938 to 1942, Lady Harris had to paint several versions of some cards before Crowley approved them. Althoug she knew littlr about the Tarot or its symbolism, her artisttic genius brought Crowley's visions and designs to life.

 The resulting deck succeeds in expressing his esoteric ideas and teachings, making them intuitively accessible to everyone. They first appeared in Croeley's last masterwork, The book of Thoth (1944), and were first published as a set of printed cards in 1971
